The Xingu Institute in Amazonia: building on the unbuildable

L’Institut Xingu en Amazonie : construire l’inconstructible _Olivier Raffaëlli

Olivier Raffaëlli
Architecte associé, Triptyque Architecture

We are building the headquarters of an institute in Amazonia whose mission is to protect the rainforest and indigenous ways of life. This process reveals the fundamentally anti-ecological nature of architecture. How can we overcome this seemingly insurmountable contradiction? How can we break out of this aporia and propose an architecture that serves living beings rather than destroying them?
