‘Next-Level’ Sustainable, Modular Carpet Tiles

modulyss, a brand of Belysse Group NV—a manufacturer of sustainable textile flooring for commercial and residential use—introduces two remarkable new collections of soft floor coverings: Plus and ecoBACK PLUS. What makes these carpets truly spectacular is their featherlight feel and a revolutionary circular backing made from recycled and upcycled materials.

With Plus and ecoBACK PLUS, modulyss once again underlines its strong commitment to ethical standards and environmentally responsible practices. Since its founding in 2010, the brand has aimed to challenge stereotypes and consistently exceed expectations—something it certainly achieves with these two new modular flooring collections.

Sustainability Takes Centre Stage

Sustainability plays a key role in the new ecoBACK PLUS backing, which was specially developed for the carpet tiles in the Plus collection. The backing is made from a blend of polyolefin and bio-based raw materials, with 80% consisting of recycled and upcycled content. The result is an incredibly lightweight and fully circular backing that benefits both people and planet. A patent application and Cradle-to-Cradle certification process are currently underway for ecoBACK PLUS.

Each of the four tile designs in the Plus collection contains a significant percentage of recycled materials—ranging from 47.7% to 63.6% of the total composition. This not only makes the tiles easier to handle during installation, but also enables larger volumes to be transported at once, helping to reduce CO₂ emissions in the logistics chain.

Designed by Joris Peutz

At modulyss, sustainability never comes at the expense of high-end design. The four designs within the Plus range—Monos, Artus, Forma, and Textura—were conceived by modulyss designer Joris Peutz. He curated a rich palette of textures and shades that celebrate the art of creation and elevate any interior concept. Peutz explored how textures and colours define atmosphere and influence the emotions of those experiencing the space. His design approach resulted in a modern yet timeless colour palette.

“As a designer, I’m acutely aware of the impact colours have on our well-being,” Peutz explains. “That’s precisely why this collection includes such a diverse colour range. Every shade serves a purpose and suits a different type of space. Neutral and earthy tones create a calm, intimate atmosphere. Cooler shades enhance focus and productivity, making them ideal for office environments. A selection of deeper hues adds a touch of luxury—perfect for retail and hospitality settings.”

The collection offers a wide array of design choices to shape balance and atmosphere in any interior—from biophilic concepts to maximalism, minimalism, and soft comfort. In short, the search for the perfect blend of on-trend design and neuroaesthetics begins with the Plus collection.
