Plural Milan. Perspectives and projects
Data publikacji: 17.07.2025

The project ‘Plural Milan. Perspectives and projects’, curated by Gabriele Pasqui and organised by the Milan Order of Architects Foundation, offers a new interpretation of the city. It does this through different points of view and five meetings, that are scheduled from 1 April to 9 October 2025.
Milan, a city of pluralism, is inhabited, traversed and used by individuals, social groups and populations that embody diverse interests and ways of life. How to ensure, in the urban space, the possibility of relationship and coexistence between these multiple inhabitants - permanent or temporary - is the challenge that Milan shares with other large European cities.
Milan is plural because it is a rich, attractive city where deep roots in tradition have always been accompanied by a capacity for innovation. Milan is at the centre of a multitude of political, administrative and scientific debates, but also of design and artistic discussions. Yet it is also a city that risks rejection and marginalisation, or becoming environmentally unsustainable if it is unable to redefine its development model.
The aim of the ‘Milano Plurale’ project is therefore to build an open platform for discussion on the dynamics and processes that are underway in the city. Milan is understood to be a large territory, with boundaries that are not fully defined or traceable to the administrative limits of the municipality. The series of events, aimed at all citizens, becomes an opportunity for reflection and interdisciplinary dialogue between architects, experts in various fields and individuals who are actively involved in the city.

After the summer, the cycle will resume with the last two meetings:
Thursday 18 September 2025, 6-8 p.m.
“Growing up, growing old. Projects and spaces for children, young people and the elderly”
How can architectural and urban design address Milan's demographic dynamics? How can we design projects that enable different populations to live together? What urban policies can help make the city more accessible to young people?
Thursday 9 October 2025, 6-8 p.m.
“Visiting, exhibiting, creating culture. Places of culture and spaces for sustainable tourism”
How have cultural spaces changed in relation to tourist flows? In addition to ‘historic’ places, what are the forms and spatial characteristics of recent cultural realities? How have the parts of the city that welcome new cultural venues been transformed?
