The Botanical Garden of Barcelona was conceived as a network of paths to recover a space in the city previously occupied by an old rubbish dump. The layout of the paths was based on the idea of laying a triangular mesh over the terrain that would adapt to all the features and conditions of the landscape, fraying at the edges and growing or shrinking in surface area according to the steepness of the topography. In its construction, the local reinforced earth was used, recycled wood trunks were used for the fences and the garden was equipped with a solar-assisted irrigation system. The very idea of the Mediterranean is maintained from the fractal geometry in the different scales of approach to the landscape, the creation of the various phytoepisodes, the construction of sections of nature, the grouping of specimens or the taxidermic record of each plant.
