For the renovation of Mu.ZEE in Ostend, Rotor did not add material, but only took material away and rearranged it. In this way, the modernist structure of the former department store, with its large windows and elegantly stepping staircase, became visible again and numerous new views could be created. Some of the existing walls were reused as free-standing exhibition walls. This project illustrates well what Rotor stands for: existing materials offer so many possibilities for reuse and that reuse results in an enormous environmental gain. To increase its own impact, Rotor is, next to its design and research branch, also active as a 'demolisher', or rather 'harvester'. Rotor also resells the materials it harvests via an online shop.
