A multidisciplinary agency: Ateliers A+
Data di pubblicazione: 16.10.2025
For over thirty years, the French office Ateliers A+ has been combining several disciplines, including architecture, urban planning, landscaping, the environment, design, engineering, economics and management. A wide range of projects attests to the agency's dynamism and its presence in Montpellier, Nîmes, Toulouse and Paris.

The team is multidisciplinary. More than a hundred employees with diverse skills work together to design, create on all scales and carry out private and public projects with a common vision. Ateliers A+ works on a wide range of projects in different fields such as urban planning, landscaping, housing, health, hotels, the service sector, sports, culture, education and industry. Let's take a look at some of the projects undertaken by this multi-talented and committed agency.

Food'in headquarters in Avignon
The new headquarters of the Food'in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur network, at the far southeastern point of the French mainland, has just been completed. It is an exemplary and forward-looking project, dedicated to innovation and training in the agri-food sector. The building skilfully combines sustainability and intelligent use in a sleek architectural setting that highlights various natural and local resources. The architects opted for natural materials such as low-carbon concrete, wood and raw earth. Everything has been designed to moderate the indoor climate, especially on very hot days. The structural elements are visible and showcase their materiality. This is a deliberate choice, aiming at highlighting the technical aspects of the building and contributing to the aesthetics of the space. The design is bioclimatic, remarkably harmonising several principles of sustainability, such as geothermal energy, natural ventilation, photovoltaics and the use of bio-based materials. This is why the complex has been awarded the ‘Bâtiment Durable Méditerranée niveau Or’, the Mediterranean Sustainable Building Gold label.

Ludivine Furnon Sports Hall in Nîmes
The Ludivine Furnon Sports Hall in Nîmes, also in the south of France, completed in 2024, is a remarkable achievement. Its architecture is the result of a comprehensive urban vision, combined with an eco-responsible approach. It is nevertheless a complex project due to its ambitious programme and varied requirements. With great skill, the architects have managed to bring together eleven disciplines and premises dedicated to eighteen sports associations under one roof, without compromising on functionality, fluidity of movement or the well-being of users. This project is emblematic. It combines architecture with contemporary art through an original work inspired by the city and specially designed by the artist Alain Clément. The result is significant and expressive, standing out in its environment. In addition to its aesthetic qualities, the new sports hall gives pride of place to wood. This material is used in the timber-framed walls, lattice or solid cross-beam structures, false ceilings, acoustic wall cladding and interior joinery. It should also be noted that the architects have used several sustainable techniques, such as geothermal energy and photovoltaic installations. The complex is thus a compendium of good practices, which has earned it a nomination for the ArchDaily Awards – Building of the Year 2025.

SNCF Voyageurs Technicampus
The SNCF Voyageurs Technicampus is located in Le Mans, a city in northwestern France, world-famous for its 24-hour endurance auto race. It is a project currently under construction and will be delivered in 2026. Located in the south of the city, not far from the railway station, the new SNCF campus is set in a green environment with a green grid that literally runs through the project, linking the various entities of the programme. The training building, which marks the entrance to the campus, stands out for its wooden and diagonal-spined facades, as well as its transversal hall and monumental staircase. On the same plot, there is an accommodation building and a workshop. The various entities blend tactfully into their green surroundings, becoming part of them. Living and relaxation areas intersect. The architectural style is inspired by the local architecture of central France and its half-timbered buildings with distinctive roofs. The architects chose a mixed wood and concrete construction system, both to reflect the local heritage and to allow greater freedom in terms of layout, reversibility and scalability of the buildings. The construction is ambitious. It responds favourably to the desire to build and assert strong landscapes, as well as respect for biodiversity through its transparency onto the gardens at the heart of the campus. This national train maintenance training centre, which includes a 75-room accommodation building and a restaurant, a tertiary training building, a workshop and outdoor spaces, is a substantial and complex programme that, once completed, promises to be remarkable.

The Soprema Factory
This is a place where architecture and technological innovation meet. It is the Soprema PU factory in Saint-Gilles, not too far from the before-mentioned city of Nîmes. The project was carried out by Ateliers A+ and has just been completed. The programme is complex. It involved creating a polyurethane (PU) insulation manufacturing plant comprising a production hall and ancillary premises, three finished product storage halls and a pavilion housing offices and changing rooms. The complex is visible from afar. It is characterised by its 250-metre-long facade with a lot of glass and a monumental steel canopy, which sets it apart from other industrial buildings. Despite the demanding programme, the architectural design is refined, playing with rhythm, transparency, light and the staging of spaces. Crystalline photovoltaic panels cover the roof and provide solar energy for the site's own consumption, contributing to the energy transition process. Once again, this is a major project that Ateliers A+ has skilfully carried out with remarkable results.

Saint-Paul Clinic in Martinique
In Martinique, a French territory located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, with the aim of becoming a benchmark in its own right, the renovation and extension work on the Saint-Paul Clinic was awarded to Ateliers A+. In addition to the renovation, the planned extension will provide more modern healthcare facilities that are open to private practice and accessible to the entire population of Fort-de-France. The aim of this major refurbishment is to equip the clinic with a state-of-the-art technical platform, consisting of an operating theatre and ten rooms with a high ISO 5 hygiene classification (including one hybrid room). The project also includes the creation of an outpatient care centre comprising three short-stay units and a new pharmacy, as well as centralised catering facilities for all the clinic's establishments across several sites, serving more than 1,000 meals per day. It should be noted that the region is prone to seismic activity. To address this, the architects have proposed a structure based on more than 90 seismic isolators. The project is underway and will be delivered in 2026.
Ateliers A+ has a wide variety of projects to its name. They are diverse in terms of both their scope and scale, but they all have one thing in common: they are adapted to their context. Each problem has its own set of solutions and each project has its own qualities, all of which serve the end user.
