FLEXIA

Inspired by the technique of ancient papyrus and the Japanese art of origami, Flexia is the result of the encounter between Artemide's know-how and Mario Cucinella's experience in sustainable design. Aiming to improve the quality of daily life while respecting people and the environment, Flexia is composed of two flexible wings. One is an acoustic panel that controls reverberation by absorbing sound waves reflected in the space, the other is a transparent emission surface that generates a diffuse, uniform and comfortable light. Discovery's patented technology applied here generates a diffuse, uniform and comfortable emission that meets the UGR standards for installation in workspaces (UGR <19), regardless of its position. Flexia demonstrates the importance of the sustainability of the elements thanks to its low energy impact, high efficiency and management flexibility. Indeed, its wings equipped with a rotation mechanism from 0° to 15° or 30°, offer a wide choice of possible inclinations and positions. Its light emission can be controlled via the Artemide application to improve environmental quality and allow the user to make increasingly conscious use of it. All this is accompanied by a careful choice of materials; the sound-absorbing part is made of recycled fibres: the outer fabric is made entirely from PET bottles and the inner panel is made from waste material. Flexia has been designed to improve the quality of spaces, generating an effective combination for all lighting requirements; its versatile and light design adapts transversally to contexts in which acoustic and visual well-being must be ensured. The combination of several modules allows the composition of landscapes based on perfectly measured principles of light and sound.
