In response to today's urban lifestyles, the transformation of three buildings, including a former car park, into an innovative complex is a clear-sighted and pioneering move. This unprecedented Parisian project brought together Galia's commitment with the expertise of several architects and interior designers, including PCA-STREAM, Marika Dru (Atelier MKD) and Fréquence Architecture, not to mention the interior design by Roman & Williams and the fine landscaping by Christophe Gautrand & Associés.

A unique experience in the heart of Paris has just been created. La Fondation, managed by Terlia, offers a new hybrid destination, combining hotels, offices, sports and wellness, not to mention gastronomy and culture. A skilfully designed, accomplished complex has opened in the 17th arrondissement. Located not far from Parc Monceau in a prestigious setting, this hybrid project has everything going for it. Apart from its proven aesthetic appeal, it is a complex structure that required rigorous renovation.

Let's talk a little about the history of this wonderful adventure. In 2012, the Galia group acquired La Fondation, a facility whose primary purpose was to meet practical and specific needs. Today, the complex has been completely transformed by the PCA-STREAM architecture firm, which encompasses a multidisciplinary collective of architects, urban planners, engineers, designers, artists, researchers, writers and editors. By renovating the old car park and the 1960s building, the architects have preserved the symbolic elements of the past while giving the place a charming contemporary feel. Among the noteworthy features are the spiral ramp in the car park, which has been preserved and enhanced to connect the different entities. Also worth mentioning are the addition of large bay windows and the opening up of the various spaces, a gesture that has created a great sense of fluidity. The renovation has also given the building a new and extraordinary multi-purpose use.

Why La Fondation?
The name La Fondation is not insignificant and it is neither a coincidence nor a whim. It is a name that brilliantly reflects the context. In fact, the name originates from the major underpinning work that had to be carried out to rebuild the building. But that's not all: let's not forget the place of art in this project. These are two essential reasons for a name that reflects this. The programme is also mixed and generous. In addition to the 5-star boutique hotel, visitors can enjoy a spa, a café and a restaurant with a Rooftop terrace offering exceptional 360° views of Paris and beyond. The second part of the plot contains commercial spaces and associated services. The various entities are connected via contemporary signage. PCA-STREAM's involvement in the renovation of the former car park and 1960s building was decisive. The facade overlooking the Rue Legendre has been redesigned and is now recognisable by its geometric pattern of metal and wood, exuding a certain refinement inspired by the industrial past. The same feeling prevails in the furnishings, where the dual identity of the site is ever-present. The contrast enriches the interior of the offices, where the preserved structures contrast with the new materials. In this elegant and refined environment with its attention to detail, user comfort has not been neglected. On the contrary, the architects have spoiled the users of the premises by providing them with patios and glass roofs that bring in light. Similarly, numerous services and access points to the outdoors have been created, such as terraces and tree-lined patios, which also contribute to the well-being of all. With its wealth of experience and commitment to building spaces that are suitable for everyone, PCA-STREAM has demonstrated its unique expertise in this project: transforming the city through regeneration.

The interior design was handled by the New York based studio Roman & Williams, which created a graceful and warm setting for the hotel and work spaces. This is the first Parisian project for the multidisciplinary agency founded in 2002 by Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer. This sought-after interior design duo is renowned for its interiors that blend noble materials and modernist influences. The collaboration with exceptional French craftsmen has combined expertise and diligence to offer a unique experience. The transformation of the former photo studio was entrusted to Atelier MKD (Marika Dru) and Fréquence Architecture, who worked hand in hand to create a space dedicated to well-being and sports. In addition to yoga and fitness rooms, treatment areas and a café-boutique, one of the highlights of this centre is the large climbing wall under a glass roof. Everything has been meticulously orchestrated to offer an environment that meets everyone's expectations. The Foundation is the new place to be in Paris!
