Architecture builds walls to create functional spaces and provide shelter to those who inhabit them. It opens openings to communicate with the outside, bringing light and fresh air indoors. Illuminating and providing optimal ventilation are two of the window’s fundamental missions.
The challenge for contemporary architecture to achieve the highest energy efficiency drives the creation of new products and opening systems for this essential glazed element, along with the implementation of innovative technologies. In this context, PTA Herrajes has developed the modular Projecting Arm system to offer advanced solutions for facade openings. Its goal is to ensure efficient ventilation, precise control of opening and closing, and a design that allows architectural offices to adapt it to the characteristics of each new project, both functionally and aesthetically.
High-strength metal mechanisms suitable for large-scale enclosures.
The Projecting Arm system has been designed with parallel opening, moving the window sash uniformly outward, promoting natural ventilation without altering the facade’s aesthetics. These are high-strength arms made of aluminum and stainless steel, equipped with reinforced mechanisms to ensure durability and structural stability. They can be applied to various types of enclosures. In ventilated facades, they improve the building’s thermal efficiency, reducing energy consumption. In glazed enclosures, they serve as an ideal solution for lightweight and continuous glass facades, maximizing natural light entry. In projects aimed at excellence in energy efficiency, this opening system helps reduce dependence on artificial climate control systems by integrating natural ventilation and thermal comfort.
The PY and PX scissor design provides a high level of safety for the project.
PTA Herrajes’ Projecting Arms offer finishes with various treatments to ensure corrosion protection and resistance to different weather conditions. The mechanism allows an adjustable opening width in six positions via a stop, ranging from 175 mm to 600 mm. For safe implementation in large-scale enclosures, the system can support a pair load capacity of up to 60 kg. Additionally, the PY and PX scissor design provides a high level of safety.
This mechanism can operate both manually and motorized, and it is compatible with home automation and remote control systems. If desired, it allows integration of sensors for automated opening and closing according to environmental conditions. Its ease of use is another distinguishing feature. Operable with one hand, including in large-format windows, it offers excellent accessibility and comfort.
