ART by Maarten Schaubroeck

Publication date: 15.05.2025

Maarten Schaubroeck hails from a creative family in Roeselare and, after completing his architectural training, began experimenting with metal – a material that quickly captivated him. For over 15 years, he has brought his designs to life through sculptures in metal and corten steel. His work is not only visible in art installations but also in creations for private individuals, businesses, public organizations, and local governments, all of whom deeply appreciate his craftsmanship and creative ideas. Maarten's works speak for themselves. To him, art can be functional, straightforward, and with a playful twist. In his studio 'IZR' in Houthulst, he creates artworks, furniture, and installations that combine strength, structure, emotion, and poetry. Whether it's public space works or custom-made furniture pieces, every project is unique and thoughtfully executed. Maarten draws inspiration from everyday life, nature, and the city. His work challenges the imagination, bringing art and functionality together in surprising ways. Born in Roeselare, Maarten was honored with the title of cultural ambassador of the city in 2021-2023. His iconic works, from the metal cats along the E17 to the Eagles at Rivierenhof, stand as a testament to his influence and vision in the world of art and design.
