Sustainable design in practice

Image - edition 2024 Gdansk - Kamil Domachowski - IFAgroup.jpg

Kamil Domachowski – IFAgroup

How can a building be harmoniously integrated into its spatial and environmental context? How can the principles of sustainable architecture be responsibly implemented? These are the questions that will be the focus of Kamil Domachowski's presentation. Specific projects will be discussed, with particular emphasis on maintaining a balance between modern solutions and respect for the local surroundings. The presentation will showcase working methods that enable the creation of architecture that respects the natural and cultural conditions of a site. Participants will learn how an approach based on models and context analysis allows for the effective realization of sustainable projects. The challenges associated with adapting existing buildings and designing in diverse urban environments will also be addressed.

Kamil Domachowski

An architect and graduate of Gdańsk University of Technology, Kamil Domachowski founded the IFAgroup studio in 2014, through which he has completed numerous individual homes, including award-winning designs, as well as public buildings. In the spring of 2024, he was among the winners of the "Europe 40under40® program for 2023-2024," a list of the 40 "most promising talents in architecture and design" under the age of 40.

His awarded, recognized, and nominated buildings include: the Dental Clinic in Gdańsk, which won the Architizer Award 2024 in the "Hospitals & Healthcare" category; "House in Gdynia," which was nominated for the Best Architectural Object of 2020 at the 24th edition of the "Polish Cement in Architecture" competition organized by the Association of Polish Architects; and "Zosia's House," which won the third prize from the Association of Interior Architects for Interior of the Year 2023 in the "Private Interiors" category.
