The symposium “Madrid Carbon Zero Metropolis”, organised by MATCOAM (the COAM’s Building Department) as part of ARCHITECT@WORK, offers an in-depth reflection and a call to action to redefine Madrid’s building and urban model through the lens of decarbonisation.
The event will bring together a panel of leading architects to discuss how to transform Madrid into a sustainable, resilient and carbon-neutral model. Case studies of different types and scales developed in our city will be presented, where architecture transcends its formal dimension to become a strategic discipline, capable of articulating constructive and environmental responses to the contemporary climate challenge.
Throughout the symposium, innovative strategies for architectural design and urban planning aimed at reducing the carbon footprint will be addressed, illustrating how cities can move towards climate neutrality and how architecture can be a tool for decarbonising the built environment and an active agent in Madrid’s ecological transition.
