Design meets Digital - Past, future and beyond

Edition 2024 - Seminar Brussels - Design meets Digital foto 1.jpg

Marc Martinez Marti, Architect Head of Computational Design at ncbham

Pioneering architects such as Frei Otto, Antonio Gaudi, Sergio Mumesci pushed the boundaries of form and structure by experimenting with mind-blowing models such as soap bubbles or inverted prototypes.

Today, computational design takes these experiments to a whole new level. Research and study time are significantly reduced, optimizing resources and enable designers to explore shapes that were once impossible to build.

The Design meets Digital lecture also showcases how computational design is applied to the interior architecture of the new in the iconic new building of BNP PARIBAS FORTIS Belgian Headquarters (designed by Baumschlager Eberle and Jasper Eyers Architects).

Through digital fabrication, Marc details the application of materials such as wood, stone, metal, and fiberglass and demonstrates the potential of the new workflows and techniques emerging between designers and the industry.
