Contemporary Public Park Design is discussed as an evolving process, from early and ancient garden art design, heading to public parks design throughout 19th to 21st centuries. In this process the relationship of culture with nature changed from a paradise concept as a place separated from unsafe nature, towards the concept of public parks and greenways aiming to the design inclusion of nature and natural processes as differentiator design assets. Within this framework three contemporary public parks by TOPIARIS in Lisbon Metropolitan Area will be presented and explained.
