Architecture is not merely about the form of buildings, but above all about the space of opportunities it can create: its true value lies in what it enables to happen. Building on this vision, the talk presents the case study of The Blooming District, the urban regeneration project that is breathing new life into Brescia’s former warehouses, transforming them – without demolition – into a new integrated system of functions comprising student accommodation, a hotel and residential units. This journey is recounted alongside Hans Martin Pohl (Pohl Immobilien), the project’s client, to explore the design and technological choices underpinning the project: from the adoption of smart building envelopes and dynamic façades using next-generation cladding materials capable of reacting to light and temperature to maximise energy savings, to the use of digital construction methods to predict wear and tear, costs and environmental impact prior to construction. A discussion on how a shared vision and technology breathe new life into the city and create future value.
This seminar is accredited. A certificate will be issued only to those who attend it live. It will be available here afterwards as a replay.
