Speech by Stanislas Zakarian, associate urban planner, Zakarian-Navelet Architectes
Introduction by Maxime Repaux, architect, chairman of SA13
What architects transform most is the soil. Fertile soil, mineral soil, artificial soil, renatured soil. Soil has a physical thickness that reflects both its geological history and the successive uses to which it has been put. In our projects, the architecture does not just rest on the soil, it is born of its thickness and the elements that make it up. It carries a spatial and temporal narrative that constitutes its living material. We see the use of geo-sourced and bio-sourced materials as a way of telling the story of the specific nature of each situation, through a telluric architecture.
