Petra terracotta tiles are a semi-manual natural product that combines artisanal and mechanical techniques, resulting in thinner tiles than those completely handmade. Despite their thinner thickness, they retain unique aesthetic characteristics, such as differences in shades, dimensional variations and irregular textures with small visible grains and pores. They are fired using biomass, which not only gives them a distinctive appearance, but also contributes to a more sustainable production process. These tiles are suitable for both indoor and outdoor floor and wall coverings, although they should be avoided in very cold or freezing conditions. In humid areas, they require a water-repellent treatment, and are not recommended for use in saline pool copings. Made of natural clay, Petra tiles have a low environmental impact and are highly recyclable, as they are inert and stable. The waste generated during their manufacture can be reincorporated into the production process, thus promoting sustainability. The raw materials used are local, which reinforces the commitment to reducing and offsetting emissions, even allowing CO₂ neutral transport.
