Recycled concrete architectural facades

Façade and exterior cladding

Logo of HERING ARCHITECTURAL CONCRETE

    Approved for

    A@W Hamburg 2019
The extraction of raw materials is associated with a considerable encroachment on nature. Recycled concrete replaces the natural rocks with processed demolition material and conserves raw materials. A normative guideline permits the use of masonry waste and brick rubble as a design element in facades. The following illustration shows a surface pattern of a concrete facade in which red brick fragment was processed. The aggregate is exposed by a surface treatment. The demand on the precast plant is to provide concrete formulations that enable demanding applications of RC concrete in terms of design. This new technology, which conserves natural resources, provides an active contribution to protecting the environment.
