Mathera is a new-generation surface which is one of the fruits of the continuous process of innovation and research that SAIB carries out in the name of design and sustainability. The project, which is signed by Diego Grandi, originated from a natural inspiration linked to the universe of stone materials and their millennial existence with the aim of imagining a new genesis for them. A thin layer of wood, stone and quartz dust, blended with resinous binders, proposes a sort of surface sampling resulting from the interpretation of the stone materials and is associated with a product panel using exclusively end-of-life wood. Mathera is available in three different textures: Gipso, Selce and Areia, and in ten colours. Gipso, soft and silky to the touch, interprets the supple, malleable texture of chalk and is available in a palette of four soft and pasty colours. Selce, inspired by the world of split stones, reinterprets the typical ripples present in slate and caused by quarrying in three different intensities of grey. With a more uniform and compact texture, and in three different shades, Areia reinterprets the bush-hammering techniques used on sandstone and is characterised by the inclusion of contrasting mineral grains. Thanks to the stone and quartz dusts used in extremely thin thicknesses (4 microns or 4 thousandths of a millimetre) Mathera combines original visual and tactile effects with innovative uses and a high resistance to impacts, scratches and rubbing: it is therefore a revolutionary design tool for furniture and interior design with multiple applications such as worktops, tables, kitchen furniture, wainscoting and closet doors. Strong and compact, it is eco-friendly and sustainable: the stone and quartz are brought back to life through a recovery and regeneration process on which the entire SAIB production is based, meeting the values of circular economy. Mathera, in turn, can be 100% recycled.
